I lost my dog of 12 years Max Monday. I wish I could write such a tribute to him. This was a magical moment by Jimmy Stewart and Johnny. I miss them both and like Jimmy, I will always love my dog named Max.

hey davebo48,I caught that too...With Jimmy he is sooooo "dog" gonegood (I mean the pun with dog NOT gone)that his terse verse with ..."and now he's dead" and the pauseshows how great a poet he ishe knows people know HIM and he gives juuuuuuust a bit of humor and yet draws them back in with his overwhelming sadness in hisloss for his dog named botruly a classic.

I Love this poem, Jimmy Stewart is one of my favorit poets. And Johnny Carson I love his show. There just isn't a late night show as good as Johnny Carson's. He's the master of the late night show.

Yes, he did. I saw a special on PBS about Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson narrated it & interviewed him, and they showed a clip of Jimmy reading the Junin poem on Johnny's show. I just can't find that clip anywhere.

Off the top, no. Do you recall if he ever did it on Carson?

I love Jimmy. Any chance you know where I can find a clip of his poem about the Junin Hotel step? |
