How interesting. I've only heard City Life by Reich. This was very different. I can picture someone alone in a room, his or her mind swirling in thoughts, and the person going crazy. I like it.

there are two things that dont have to mean anything, one is music, the other is laughter-kantsometimes it's just nice

It's all perception really; one may look at this and think "wow this is just repetitive and boring" and another may say "wow this is beautiful" .. if it doesn't turn you on, cool - just check it out another time. you don't have to feel an "emotion" when you hear music all the time. maggotqueen is right, just let it be what it is. and the problem is the "selling of it" - trying to criticize and label what doesn't have to be.

I think the beauty of Reich's music is similar to the beauty of Science or mathematics. An equation or a chemical symbol does not at first seem beautiful or engaging , but as you come to understand them and study them you begin to see the relationships and the balance or imbalance within them. You begin to see connections and an image of something greater something more complex and that in itself holds a great deal of fascination and yes even beauty.

Reich's music is unique. It's awkwardly comfortable. You dont need emotion for it. It just is.
