I try my best. I'm a convert just like Yusuf Islam so I have extra pressures on me to defend Islam living in the West, but it is always worth it.

I totally agree with you. It's nice to see people like you who talks to other religion with respect and understanding. really we need people like you to spread world peace. Also to show to the world that we Muslims are really peaceful. please keep the hard work.

I'm saying that people of all different religions do bad things, that doesn't mean the religion is bad. I have no problem with Christianity at all or with the majority of Christians. There are always people who do not represent the true values of their religions and preach wrong things. The majority of the worlds religions preach love, but there are always followers who ignore that teaching, that applies for Muslims just as much as Christians.

I was wondering because I saw another video on YT where a girl was saying her new name was "(something Muslim-sounding) Islam." But Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali are good examples! Hadn't thought of them. I've heard the "revert" thing several times when a non-Muslim becomes Muslim. I'm not sure what it means. (In fact, same video I mentioned, the girl says she "reverted" but she was born Christian).

Really what sect of Christianity are you talking about? Oh I see so Christians all over the world are doing horrible things on a global scale huh? So it's the media who is to blame is that it?

I just hear Muslims saying the same thing even the ones who say they want peace but yet are constantly talking about how the bad Muslims are somehow justified in what they do - or I've heard other Muslims say try to understand where their hatred comes from or it's America's fault that they do what they do - or Christianity is to blame for trying to push their faith on the Muslim world! Yes indeed I am not making this up I have heard this before from so called Muslims who claim they want peace..

The same can be said about any sect of Christianity. Also, clearly stories about Muslims and others doing terrible things play a lot better in the media, you do not hear the stories of the good Muslims because they do not attribute their names to the things they do.

You're not actually required to chose a new name in Islam so long as your original name is not contrary to Islam, such as a name the translates to Sun worshipper or something of the like. In general, changing the surname is discouraged for converts, although some choose to change their last names. Islam is not a required last name, Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabbaz) and Mohammed Ali chose different surnames. As for reverting, I've only heard that for Shi'as that become Sunnis.

The Qur'an holds people of the Book-Jews and Christians-in a very high regard. If you speak to a good Muslim, you will find the exact same. As with any religion, there will always be examples of people who do not follow the true religion as it should be followed. There are Muslims who, in their hearts, want peace with Christians and Jews as it should be and strive for that peace. Such Muslims should not be punished for the actions of the hateful minority. |
