Hi! Ir's pretty easy. Males are much bigger, they have a bigger dewlap, larger heads than the females. Also. both male & female can have a white stripe down their back so don;t count on that in a very young one. There are other ways but you'll need to ask someone who's much more experienced than I how to do it properly. Thanks for watchibng and asking, hope I helped a little.:)

wildstar how do you tell if it is a male or a female?

lol, me too! They are wonderful little creatures. They made many of my childhood days. Now, I'm studying them a little more in depth with this nature series. They're really amazing! Thanks for watching.:)

The kids in my neighborhood and I used to catch these little guys in our sandbuckets and attach them to our earlobes like dangling live earrings.

Well for an anole anyway. Guess that should've been a bad, "molting skin" day.lol

Hi! The ones in my vids are all green anoles. Some do change other colors as well. I've seen them do a nice shade of yellow and some have done reds and pinks! Going to try to put a vid of that together soon.:)

Yes, they will come off. Ii won't harm them. It's a defensive tactic to throw off predators. I have a small skink and it too crawls into the tiny cracks along the top of it's tank sometimes. Now it prefers to stay under a plant when it sleeps. Anoles also do the same.:)Thanks for asking!
