OMG! I saw that show, I better stop before I tell my age. We lived in Niagara and often hit the highway to hear those hot jams at that 'smoky' Inn. Buffalo then was the spot. Lots of party places and party people. Thanks for the memory's just when I needed them.

Yep, "The Governor's Inn" in Buffalo! They lived upstairs and his father, James, took him downstairs to the club every day to "school" him. James would put cigarette butts on the keys Lucky wasn't supposed to touch and if Lucky knocked one off, he got a rap on the offending hand. I played there with him, too!...a soulful joint! He was on The Ed Sullivan Show at age 3, playing B3 and drums and The Tonight Show w/ Johnny Carson at age 5. Willie Dixon produced Lucky's first album at age 5, too.

I used to be Lucky's guitarist/bandleader in the early 90's. Yeah, he's amazing! If you dig his B3 playing, check him out on my first solo album, "Ernestly", which features Lucky. He rips it up and plays the mess outta' the piano on one track! I have recorded and toured with him many times...always an adventure, always a GAS! Ernie Lancaster
