By discovering the causes of behavior we can dispose of the imagined internal cause. - B.F. Skinner. Now don't tell me that Skinner acknowledged internal processes. I've heard him call them imaginary with my own ears.

Skinner's views on operant conditioning remain extremely influential in understanding animal behaviours, from hamster to human. However, he's not the be-all and end-all of human psychology. Also - reductio ad Hilerum = autoloss.

Steven Hawking probably embraces this shitbag's ideas. Skinner had no soul. You are just a dog to him and people who subscribe to his operant conditioning fucking bullshit. Nazi's probably love this man too.

Why is the rating disabled? This is an obvious 5-star video! :)

I think what you guys are missing is the value of individuals buying into one school of thought so avidly. Each individual that believes 100% in something devotes all of their time to advancing that field. If we have an individual obsessively advancing each field we end up with multiple schools of thoughts/research being advanced at very high rates and those who are in the middle can benefit greatly from the use of each of these schools of thought.

I thought his flaw was in assuming people were pigeons.

Pinker is a Sociobiologist. Sociobiology is inherently ad-hoc and therefore unscientific, in my opinion. If you want a valid biological theory, turn to Ethology. |
