When hurricane Katrina blew through, she wiped out most all of the hummers natural food sources. There was an explosion in the hummer population here, as displaced birds searched for new territory and food sources. Quite a battle for survival for all species after that storm.

Hi! We have a couple of different species here. The rubythroated being the most abundant. I have seen a few caliope hummers. I haven't seen them like this since this was filmed either. The storms wiped out alot of their natural food so there was a mad dash to the human made feeders.Thanks for watching!

Wow, I have never seen so many at once. By the way, I live in Canada and we only have 1 specie here.
