To this day it amazes me when I think of how young Ronnie Van Zant was when he wrote the lyrics to some of these songs. He had no business knowing so much about these sordid things at such a young age; and yet he not only knew them, he raged against them. He was an old Soul in a young man's body. Bless you Ronnie.

what a wonderful explanation of Ronnie's lyrics and the meaning of these great tunes. RONNIE understood and explained LIFE better than n e song writer EVER! Allen Collins sounds like CLAPTON so MUCH on these early Skynyrd tunes

The creation of this song, Junkie, Needle and the Spoon, and That Smell plus others send a clear message of Ronnie's attitude towards self destruction may it be the outcome of drugs, alcohol, industry or hehe... cheatin women. There is no doubt in my mind that these songs continue to save lives by making people think and reflect before the act!
