Absolutely not - it was mix bought from a store, made by a major birdfood/feeders company and there has never been any evidence that the red mix they sell is harmful. I don't use it because it is much cheaper to make your own clear sugar water. Just to make sure the hummer could see the food in my hand I used the mix a few times and after that he would come to clear sugar water.
