I respect what you are saying but I have a different idea of which person is which gooseChief is the goose who flew east, because in the end of the movie, he runs towards the rising sun, which rises in the east. Also, the rising sun also can represent a beginning and chief's life has began anew. Billy flew west, because the west, where the sun sets, can represent an ending or death, and Billy commits suicide, therefore ending his story. Mcmurphy is the one who flew over the cuckoo's nest.

dont read this if you havent seen the movie. cause at the end billy dies (One flew east) mccmurphy dies (And one flew west) and cheif escapes (And one flew over the cuckoo's nest)
