Extraordinary committed playing full of passion, tonal variety, huge dynamic range and musical insight. How can anyone criticise his intonation. A cello is not a piano with all the semitones equalised!. He uses expressive intonation , leaning into notes to add expressive weight. The cello was his voice and he had a great deal to say with it. Shafran was a unique artist with an inexhaustible range of colours and articulations. Inspirational!

shafran's perfomance of this has a biggest balls ever.all of you,who do not understand it and all those who say "too much vibrato" and other shit..you are totally out of it.

i obvserved that too but i like it considering the intensity of the music and when it becomes calm he does tone it down accordingly
