Yeah FM radio was so long in coming ,on the count of RCA suppressed it since it threatened AM, which they controlled pretty well.

AM radio gave us the best of both bubblegum pop and more serious pop tunes, from groups like the Byrds and Beatles and Moody Blues and individual artists like James Taylor. FM came roaring in during the 70s and we could hear whole albums being played, plus harder rock that was never played on AM. That killed AM radio, which converted to talk and sports. Anyone who lived through the 50s, 60s and early 70s knows how rich and deep the choice of songs played on AM radio was. It's all gone now.

Elvis is the best, for sure, but Conway had more #1 hits.

Well, that was a trip down memory lane - and nice to see the faces behind some of the familiar songs.Like eybaebae, I also listened to this sort of music when I was 16 or younger - my pocket money stretched to old vinyl LPs with compilations of 50s songs. And of course Elvis....Very varied, I must say.

I'm 16, and I have to say that music back then is WAY BETTER than the "music" being produced these days...
