Yes I do get it.Hes not the cornerstone of almost every kind of "modern" music. The Beatles,Dylan were.Fair enough,he shook his hips and started your so called sexual revolution (I mean,it couldnt POSSIBLY have been the pill that started it,it MUST have been a show-man shaking his hips). But what Im saying is,the people behind elvis started it,not him. His songwriters were the hand,he was merely a paintbrush.

You obviously don't get it.Elvis is THE most famous American to ever live. You want a visionary?Elvis was a white guy playing what was known as "nigger music" at the time. Who cares if he wrote it? It was taboo to SING it in the 1950s.Plus, being "Elvis the Pelvis," he layed the first strip to what would become the "Sexual Revolution."If you say that Elvis is not with the Beatles as being a cornerstone to modern music AND culture, then you are blind.

Hey hey hey now, Elvis was important, he was a huge part of the rock culture. He began it, The Beatles just mastered it.
colmanaucoin (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
no,hes not. Elvis didnt write his own material, which makes him a puppet, not an artist. The Beatles were visionaries. |
