Parents are a source. What were their qualities you cherish? Pictish(East Scotland)symbols include the bull, kelpies, spirals, woman astride a horse(cf Epona),Zed(reverse) rods separating two parents.A symbol substitutes one thing for another, in a more concrete fashion:The Christian cross is a symbol of the Crucifixion; it is an emblem of sacrifice. The crescent shape is a symbol of the moon;Sun is often given the masculine aspect. The skull is an emblem of the transitory human life.

Thank you for your help but i am lookiing for something very specific, the meaning must be correct. I have read about the triskal/triskele and from what i gather the meaning is very ambigouous. It may be in honour of a three headed godess, it may mean mother, father, child or past present future etc. etc. I find it very difficult to understand why a symbol for parents is so hard to find - i would of thought it would be a main part of any culture?

So I suggest a triskal and a four armed symbol combined, interwoven, and each a resonating color. You can use the 3 as mother, or the 4, as both are both, actually, in mysticism, just different angles of vision of them, as they have many duties mother and father, and are many things to us in different parts of the life. 3 is normally considered feminine, and 4 masculine. Things material are best based on 4, like grid cities, the computer chip, car wheels, but three rules the circle, vine, water

So the art will have both the 4 and 3 motif interwoven, to represent the father and mother. In Celtic/Germanic/Scan art, all now called Celtic, there are 4 based (Swastika) and 3 based (triskal) art forms. When you combine 3 and 4, or multiply, you get the whole 12 of the zodiac. Jazz music relies on using both 3 and 4 beats simultaneously, as often does Celtic music. It's a more complex synchopated sounding beat form, it represents life as a whole. The star of David is a symbol of M/F as well

So 4th house is mother, and 9th is father. One is a 4, the other a multiple of 3. This is the key. Father is with nature, he teaches us to merge with the outside, mother is 4, or structure, she teaches us and protects us, provides our body and all manner of our structure early on, father kicks in more later, is more punishing, but shows us out into the world, which is 3 ruled, law of nature, the flow of water, and of waves from round (3 again) objects like the Sun

I do not know of one per se, however, Celts were in the world with the rest of the world, and since Greeks and Hindus had Astrology that shared, still shares, the same house numbers and meanings, and these are so proven, and Celts had astrology as per Cuchalain and The Tein, the Druid, on his day of getting Arms, astrology clearly mentioned, it's accuracy praised by the plot of the story (astrology was right, the Druid was right), so, I will explain in next note.

Does anyone know if there is a particular celtic/pictish symbol representing/meaning the "parent" or "mother and father?". I have recently lost my parents and would like to find out so i can use it as part of a dedication to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Slainte. A great compilation of the third formative group of Europa alongside the Greco-Roman and Germanic-Scandanavian.

Youre right, but my theories will always be the same as I progress through my research in history and when I find something that I think is true, I trust my believes, and I dont think "age" has something to do with it. |
