The garden has paid off. I have one hummingbird that comes. I've named her Hummer Girl. Sorry for the cut off at the end. I ran out of memory on my camera.

I hope so. It's so neat to see her.

If there is one, I bet more will follow! (But I'm not at all qualified to say...)

Thanks. I'm so happy to have a hummingbird after all that effort even if only one.

Good post Des. Hope to see more next time. This year is flying by and it is always fun to see all your garden activities.5***** :-)

They make this little squeaky chipping noise. I'd not heard much from one until last year when Clucker took up residence in our yard.

That's cool. I've read about the fighting. AT first I thought it was only the males but now I've learned the females do it too. I don't think I've ever heard one make noise.

We had a pair at my old house too. We named the male "Buzz" and the female "Buzzette." He owned the feeder, but she or one of their babies put up a good fight for it the last summer we lived there. I got to watch lots of aerial hummingbird battles over that feeder. At the current house, the female "Clucker" is the most frequent feeder visitor. She is very vocal when she visits.

That's cool. I've been bird watching a long time and I've never seen a male. I hope I do one day.

I've seen both a male and a female at our feeder. They also went nuts over the fuscia we had out last year.
