've lived in Cuba, it has its strong points and weak points. The most disturbing thing I find is that people support its corrupt and oppressive government- its not even about ideology or anything else. Yes you have ADEQUATE education and healthcare, but what can you do with them? Many Cubans just sit in their rocking chairs and pass the day away because there is no opportunity to fulfill your dreams, or even simple pleasures like speaking your mind. I know, because my dad was jailed for it.

ctwright82: Absolutely right!! Cuba is a great example to follow by many countries in the world. With the criminal, pathetic and frustrated economic blockade Cuba has survived and developed alternative and creative ways to provide and covered the population´s needs. Just amazing!! Viva Cuba!!and its Revolution!!

Thanks for speaking out the truth about Cuba. May I add, Cuba has WONDREFUL doctors. That country is the prime example of how we can survive peak oil. People in Cuba, and many other latin american countries live a wholome and rewarding life. We can learn a lot from them.

Why then does it have one of the world's best education and health care system? It might be poor because of the 45 year economic strangulation by the US but it continues to survive, and create a stable economic base and environmental sustainability

ATTENTION: Apparently chevron oil (corrupt American oil company) bought the rights to NiMH battery technology so they could prevent auto manufacturers from using it to build more efficient hybrid vehicles and force us to keep buying gasoline. The name of the company that produced the NiMH batteries used to be Ovionic Battery Systems, but Chevron and Texaco bought the company and changed the name to Cobasys and made it impossible for auto manufacturers to buy the batteries.
