I believe my camcorder was a victim of internal condensation. Chupa huevos grande is Spanish for "sucks big eggs" In English term, forgive the phrase..."sucks big balls." I was actually rather disappointed working for Playa Nicuesa. I expected more of a birding lodge where I could practice my art. Turns out very few people were interested in the birding aspect. I don't really recommend them. I do recommend Bosque De Rio Tigre in the Osa which IS a birding lodge.

No, I had not heard of that lodge, though the website certainly makes it sound great. What happened to your camcorder - direct moisture (eg dripping/rain), internal condensation, long term fungus growth, etc? That's a bummer, too...(I am not familiar with "chupas huevos grande"...)

Actually Scarlet-rumped Tanager has been split into two seperate species. Cherrie's on the Pacific slope, and Passerini's on the Caribbean Slope. Males are identical, though female plumage differs slightly. BTW I am a very avid birder and worked at a rainforest lodge called Playa Nicuesa as a guide Have you heard of it? That chupas huevos grande about your camcorder, though. Mine did not get stolen, though damaged from tropical humidity.

You ARE good!I didn't know that the bird formerly known as "Scarlet Rumped" was now "Cherrie's", and of course you are right about the view from the veranda of the Hotel Golfito (taken the day before the camcorder was stolen while waiting to catch the bus back to SJ...)- and
