Yup not saying you did just advise, regardless of where you are sunlight does not relate to heat. I watched a National Geo where they copied an arctic flower design for a solar cooker on the ice, popped a hot dog in 1 minute! If you note you mention (stunted for some reason) I responded to that with advice. I love the book Peacock Manure & Marigolds. Try your pigeon manure it is a staple for us & corrects near anything. I dislike inorganics as we are an organic certified farm. Tossdart

That's because I filmed this in the evening. I know sunflowers are full sun. That's one reason they are called SUNflowers. Yes, I know nitrogen is low in my area. That's why my foxgloves don't get tall as well. I mentioned this already if not on this video then on the pervious one. And I don't start my sunflowers indoors. I planted them directly in the dirt. My coldest season would be February. That's the start of spring for me. We average two frost days a year.

Your sunflower plants are too shaded. Sunflower requires full sun. They also look to be low in nitrogen & minerals. Don't start your sunflowers inside. Toss the seeds on the ground in the coldest part of your season. Scratch them in. Sunflowers dislike transplanting. I tilled all of mine excepting a few this season as they self seed when I leave them for winter birds & I say that with a slight chuckle, winter I mean as opposed to your sum..I mean winter. lol. Hummers love red columbine.

No. No hummingbirds yet. :( We had one last year in September I think. I hope she'll come back soon and tell her friends. Hummers are rare down here actually but seeing one gave me hope.

Great garden! It has grown dramatically, but are there any hummingbirds? (We can hear your pidgeons in the background...) |
