To answer your question, original JKD was mainly made up of western boxing, wing chun kung fu, fencing (for techniques such as the stop hit/intercepting an attack) and a lot of the grappling can be found in Jiu Jitsu. But JKD is constantly evolving. JKD guys probably incorporate MMA or Krav Maga in their training these days.

Your right, as far Im aware JKD is more a philsophy on Martial Arts. But as for the styles it uses, you can pretty much use anything, (take what is useful, discard what is useful and add what is your own) aslong as oyu stick to the concepts of no wasted movements and good economy of motion (IE, no need to kick to the face when a punch would do just aswell).

i wouldnt be afriad one bit from a man maniacally smacking me in the face because if you really knew what you were doing then theres really no way you could lose a fight to a man flailing his arms. jeet kune do isnt about textbook style fighting or flailing your hands randomly hoping to inflict any damage. its a combination of styles best fight to working with the human body to do the most damage with least effort

Let me put it this way, and I don't mean to be rude, but would you be more afraid of a guy who fought "by the book" with very textbook style attacksora person who just maniacally smacked you in the face 7 times and took you to the ground before you knew what was going on?I'm no expert on Jeet Kune Do, but if I were to describe it, I would refer to it as a "controlled barrage" style. I personally have never fought a JKD fighter but from what I see and hear, I shouldn't.
