As a frequent visitor to the SF ZOO, I'm puzzled by the possibly erroneous statement someone made that the "majority" of visitors "taunts" the animals??!! Source? I have first hand experience that this is not true.I've never seen it happen. I've seen people talking to the animals. In the past 10 years, one of my family members has seen it happen twice: both times, the "taunters" were about 10 years of age... very hyper kids who appeared at loose ends... inattentive parents, in one case.

tell me what is natural for a siberian tiger to be caged in san francisco? PLUS, a study showed that the MAJORITY of zoo visitors taunt the animals. but hey, if you think the majority should die, then im barking up the wrong tree.

I spent many years living in San Francisco and i visted this zoo many times and its wonderful its one of the best zoo's i have ever been to

I think the young men (or should I maybe say 'thugs'?) taunted the tiger to the point of total rage. It came after THEM, and no one else still in the zoo at that time. And don't forget that that tiger lived there for YEARS without excaping. Those guys did something really stupid, and one paid with his life. The Law of Natural Selection at work.

The idiots put man-killing cats in an under-sized enclosure... recipe for disaster. As far as their snake exhibit, they simply have a rope separating the snakes from the visitors. The San Francisco zoo should be sued for everything they got.

Thanks for the public update. Our family looks forward to being able to see the Big Cats again on display at the SF Zoo.

Good to see the construction moving along. Can't wait to see those big cats back in their proper place.

Good luck with the upgrades on the Cat enclosures! I hope they are finished soon and our babies can get outside to breath the air soon.

Good luck with the upgrades on the enclosures. Hope it's all finished soon and the big cats can get outside and enjoy the air soon, and in safety.
