I find it interesting that Pete Seeger seems to irritate some people. Maybe they just don't know that Pete was Blacklisted in the 1950's, was heavily involved in the Civil Rights movement and has spent his whole life standing up for what he believes in. On top of that he's used his music promote understanding amongst people and to try to make the world a better place to live. I couldn't possibly want anything more from a musician.

i totally agree, pete seeger is a legend, however Rev. Gary Davis is more of a legend. He is probably one of the greatest blues/folk musicians of all time. If it wasn't for Gary Davis, Pete Seeger wouldn't be playing the music he does. However, i do agree with you

When I was young and naive, Pete Seeger was one of my heroes. When I watch this video now, I can't believe how annoying he comes across. His banjo plunking nearly ruins the song. He's trying to turn the Rev. Davis's sanctified music into some kind of salon socialist singalong. I find his whole manner towards the Rev. Davis to be incredibly condescending. I give credit to Donovan for having the decency to lay out during the Reverend's performance.

The same can be said of Bach's Chorales. Very Christ centered, but appreciated by people who don't believe. The music speaks for itself, and people are drawn to the power.Samson and Delilah is so hard not to love. I wonder what other world view has created music like this. Rock and roll steels the power, but still can't compare.
