All you haters. It's not a competition. Clapton is a legend and a pioneer. Clapton although I don't agree is considered by many as the finest guitarist of all time. Mayer promises to be everything Clapton was and then some. John Mayer can play and sing anything and is the greatest new talent on the scene. Having said that..it's just an opinion.

mayer probably knows a lot more than clapton in theory, but no one knows more about the blues than clapton.both great guitarists, in my opinion. shouldn't be compared.

if he was better he wouldve played a better solo than clapton,which he didn't,idk why u guys compare them,clapton was better than him 40 years ago,there's NO fucking comparison

nah clapton is in good shape. i think the drummer could be less straight ahead with it, maybe more dynamics from the rhythm section, IMHO.

actually clapton can play bold as love, its not even close to being jimi's most complicated song. and as an fyi, clapton was learning how to play the hendrix songs from hendrix himself. additionally, mayer may be talented, but he doesnt have near the explosiveness clapton had back in cream and john mayall. if clapton cant play bold as love now, its because hes too damn old to push the strings down.

im not gonna argue so i bet u think that clapton is better than srv mayer is on srvs level watch mayer play bold as love and tell me clapton could pay that nope its pretty obvious mayer is better but cant phrase a solo nearly as good as clapton
