i think weckl probably bores people because he's such a polished player. Vinnie can do the stuff that Weckl does and probably do it much better than him. Vinnie is becoming one of my favorites.

In many ways, as crazy as this sounds, this solo is even better that those amazing solo's we've seen on Utube of Vinnie at the Baked Potatoe! Simply because it's so fucking raw and unplanned! Don't get me wrong, Those solos are fucking out of this world! But this is so, I don't know, Angry? But in a good way, Ha ha:)))) It's just so powerful! Amazing!

Either way you slice it, this guy, here, is fucking "Un-caged", "Un-Limited", just a fucking animal on the drums!, a force with nothing stopping him! That's why we all LOVE to see him on the drums! That's why Weckl bores me. Vinnie just fucking says, "This is It!", with No-Holds-Barred. He holds Nothing back here. He gives it Everything! I LOVE that! I rarely see that in a drummer! Most of us, myself included, are controlled and safe! Vinnie is the complete antithesis of that! Just Go!

Don't get me wrong at all, to be even as competent as vinnie would be a godsend, I admire him incredibly, but with Jeff Beck he plays off the beat a little too much. But that is just one show, I otherwise love his playing, and am always impressed with his creativity, style, technique and sheer talent. sorry to have flipped, but like Vinnie says, Kill your idols meaning believe in yourself, your abilities and the courage to blaze your own path....cheers to you too Kirk:)
