Wie wahr, ein traurig Lied. Ich kenne das Lied.

Bange pochet Herz an Herz 兩顆心在焦躁中鼓動Hoffnung schwingt sich himmelwärts.

Giofab, You flaunt your bizarre musical virtousity. I am a political scientist-lawyer but I can enjoy good music. Von Otter's interpretation of Marrietta's Lied is so beautiful. You hear her impromptu at the Korngold concert at Chatellet Musical de Paris. One of her greatnesses no other singer could do, in whatever language she sings you hear every single vowel and consonant of the words fron her vocal chord in tune with her dark, rich and dramatic voice. No diva posturing. Sit back. Enjoy.

Elizabeth- You are absolutely correct! Anne Sofie is one of the great artists of our generation. She is utterly without pretension, musically and personally, as befits someone who has an absolutely clear knowledge of what is important and what is mere nonsense. She has never done anything at less than the highest standard, and I'm in love with her too- and so is my wife!

its sung by the soprano AND the tenor. She starts it and he joins in on the second verse.

well, its an arrangement of a piece from the opera which is more of a duet so...i guess they gave that line to the violin.

There really should be more songs for a mezzo and piano quintet, an utterly wonderful combination!
