the reason I asked if its bad cos I got beat twice (submited) in the final macth in a local tordament by ruuder gaurd cos I dident know I had no anser for it so I got beat at will it sucked and peolple know our club dont do ruber gaurd so were fucked man it sucks I dont learn it

nope. some bjj instructors don't like it or believe in it and thus don't teach it (or they don't know it). There is nothing stopping you from learning it on your own and practicing it with a few team mates. To each their own.

Yeah, obviously if you meant a nut who happens to know BJJ on the street, and tries to pull this sort of technique, well then remember there are no rules; although try to remain civilised for your own piece of mind ;-) I have personally had the misfortune of being taken to the ground and knowing ground techniques allowed me to quickly choke the nasty man out. So even from a real self-defence point of view even 'silly'/'fancy' stuff can be beneficial. |
