Pacifist protesters in St Paul have just had police bust down their doors, point shotguns at them, detain them, and confiscate many of their things. Why? Because they are planning a protest.So I don't know how hyperbolic Mr Vidal really is. Certainly the US is not a classic dictatorship, but it certainly is not a beacon of freedom and democracy.

No, Chomsky's views on linguistics have never won out beyond North America and are in recession there too. He is ridiculously dogmatic about a system he vaguely designed long ago. That said, I like Chomsky in politics and Vidal too. It does not mean Chomsky is God's intellectual gift to the sciences.

If, my Canadian friend, you read my earlier posts (and comments on other Bore Vidal videos) you will see that I did in fact say several things about Bore Vidal's tiresome indignation, his crackpot conspiracy-theories and his general sympathy for the Devil.
