Since this band certainly deserves a wider audience, I decided to upload a second post. Athough not well-known outside his homeland nowadays, pianist Ventura had one of the most successful jazz bands in France during the 20's and 30's, formed in 1924. They were heard on radio, toured internationally and Ventura starred in couple of films. During World War II (1942 to 1944) Ventura fled France for Argentina, where he continued to record and perform. After the war he returned to France and continued to have a successful show business careers. This excellent record was made for Odéon on May 16th, 1929. The vocal remained uncredited, but might be by Al Cazentre and Edouard S.Foy. Besides Ventura personnel included: Krikor "Coco" Arslanian and Charlie Barnes, drums; John Arslanian, Danny Polo and Edouard S. Foy, clarinet and alto saxophone; René Barry, Jacques Bourgas Rosselli and Pierre Simon, clarinet and tenor saxophone; Ray Binder, Robert De Gaille, Alex Renard, Philippe Montaigut and Philippe Brun, trumpet; Spencer Clark, bass saxophone; Serge Glykson, alto saxophone; Roger Grasset, bass brass; Henri Guesde, guitar; Gaston Lapeyronnie, trombone and trumpet, as well as Paul Misraki, Bob Vaz and Stéphane Mougin, piano.

This is so sizzling hot, I can't even put on my overcoat but when I do, I sure will button up. What a great arrangement, I love this French orchestra, and I must have just one more sip of champagne before I shimmy onto the dancefloor. Bye..Patrick. I absolutely love it!

Great to hear a totally new and unexpected orchestra do this Betty Boop number. But Seenging en Engleesh? Je ne comprends pas!The unexpected is becoming the norm on your channel.

Thank you! It might be unusual to hear a French band, but actually that was my intention.

Besides buttoning up your overcoat, you need to "refresh" this page a couple of times, YT is suffering from flushes again, hahaha!
