Well, it is still a magical thing to have tried to save a hummer. They are such little jewels and holding one is magical. I do know that they require insects in their diet as well. We only had our guy for an overnight stay. For a longer rehab we would have had to figure out how to get him some little flying bugs.

Yeah, it was very sad. It was amazing how he came to us. My husband was leaving work when this tiny bird came and landed, haphazardly on his shoulder! He brought him home, and we tended to him for a couple of days, but guess it just wasn't meant to be.

It was 4 parts water to one part sugar. We soaked it up in a cotton ball.I'm sorry your little guy died.

What was it you were feeding him? We tried to save one once, but he never would eat the normal nectar from flowers. He ended up dying. :(
