Most scientists are atheists, there are atheists in the army. In history, religion caused tyranny. Every state that had state-religion turned to tyranny. Harriet Meirs was nominated by Bush. The right don't care about experience; they have bush. It was everyone with sense who opposed her.

A Theocratic America, that's a terrifying thought. It's really hard to believe that we're living in the 21st Century.

The difficulty a human government faces lies in determining what set of moral beliefs by which it will govern. Should its decision be based upon the court of public opinion, or upon empirical evidence?

Truth cannot be relative. The very statement that their are no moral absolutes is in itself and absolute statement. The universe as we have observed works consistently according to the laws of gravity, thermodynamics, etc. It functions well because of its structure and order. Anarchy leads to chaos, which does NOT produce beneficial order. We must examine the evidence to determine which structure of belief is the best - to determine which one conforms to REALITY.

When it comes down to it, those in favor of the secularization of American government and society are really promoting their own moral beliefs. They desire their position to be the one that is supported by our goverment. In reality, a government cannot be completely neutral on moral issues. To take such a position is to promote anarchy, which rarely produces any positive results. What we as americans must decide is this, which moral beliefs are right and true based upon EMPIRICAL evidence.
