Today our roving reporter Michael Wigge follows up on the term „krauts", an uncomplimentary term used to designate Germans due to their supposed exuberant love for sauerkraut. Wigge explored private and professional kitchens to checked out what's cooking in stewing pots and engaged people eating currywurst at the stand to take a sauerkraut test.

This stuff is not bad. I like it. (but not too much) By the way, to call a German "Kraut" is more a curse than a real word...

The poor German families in past could fabricate it for themselves, which means it was cheap, they didn't have to buy it.For many Germans it was the only affordable vitamin source during the entire winter. So the Germans ate it maybe three times a week, but not because they liked it, they had no other choice. That's the story.
