If you go with a 20 mW+ laser you should be able to see the beam pretty well inside without fog and the lights on (and outside at night and inside at night etc etc)

This is no smoke, just fog ;) I can see beam without fog also, but not THIS good, still see quite good beam without smoke ;)Can see beam inside sometimes :D Depends on conditions
