there must be laws put in place protecting infants from doctors and all forms of sexual alteration's/mutilations, 1 of 100 are born with what is considered not standard gentiles, however what society thinks is normal may not be normal for that individual who is intersex.

This is so sad. Did the doctor have to pay smart money? Did he lose his job? I don't know about the US, but in Germany you can easily sue a doctor for damages, if something like this happens.This is unbelievable! Only a Nazi would do such a thing.

I did my H.S junior research project on inter-sexed conditions, and often wonder what I would do if I were to have a intersexed child of my own. It really is a complex situation.

That was so sad. I felt so bad for the family and the little boy who have to go through that. That doctor was in no way right to do that. I would never do that to a child, children are born as they should be.

You are referring to the life of David Reimer. Reimer was NOT born intersexed. He was a normal male child whose penis was completely destroyed during circumcision at age 7 months. David Reimer was surgically reassigned as female and his parents attempted to raise him that way. The abuse of harmful, unnecessary genital reducing surgeries on healthy children, male, female and intersex continues.

This has happened in Canada too, to a Canadian family who had an intersex child. There is a book about it called "As Nature Made Him - The Boy Who Was Raised As A Girl" by John Colapinto...that child grew up and helped author the book & its a very, very sad story. This surgical abuse still happens today.

that doctor disgusts me, and makes me hate people. there are soooo many people that are just ignorant and it pisses me off. and i agree 100% with haikatrine2. which says pretty much ALL i would say as well. i feel so bad for that kid now. i hope he'll be able to understand what happened and accept himself and be happy.

i want to castrate the doctor, i know he only removed one testicle but i think that the douche-bag should lose both of his and his job. the hospital should be responsible as well... don't tell me there wasn't one attendee in neo-natal surgury who could've stepped up and sone the right thing.... let this be a lesson to us all: GET A SECOND OPINION!!! even if you're broke for god's sake doctors are humans and some humans are hell-bent on normalcy.and normalcy is a lie

Doctors do things like this everyday, many intentionally mislead parents and push a gender onto their children, without regard to what the child may come to understand his or her gender to be. Its almost as if there are many Surgouns who believe assigning a gender will make a person a boy or a girl, and forget that people are who they are because they believe themselves to be boys or girls, not because a surgoun decided they were boys or girls.

This is painful to watch-infuriating. I am so angry. If this is really true about this doctor-ugh- how is this possible that a doctor could do this!?!??! It's just terrible.
