The truth is indelibly stamped into every frame of this movie. The scene where we, as the audience, actually see Jamie for the first time is an actor's dream come true. He says nothing, he barely moves and yet his presence completely dominates the shot. We can barely wait for the camera to finish it's swivel because we so badly want to see what Nina sees. Nina's reaction expresses everything we are feeling. It is a magnificent scene performed by gifted actors, from a gifted director.

He drives her crazy, smothering her, needing her, to force her to move on with her life because she can't cling to him or his memory and have a full life.

This movie is so beautiful, and I absolutely love the song in the beginning. When Alan pretended to play it on the cello, I actually cried. This movie in total made me bawl like a baby around 4 times. It's just unreal... this movie portrays loss of a loved one so fantastically. I'm able empathize with Juliets character when she cries her heart out over the loss of Jamie. This movie is the best!

So let me get this strait... she lives with a ghost?...a ghost that's fully material and talking and behaving like a human? And it's supposed to be real or is she imagining things? How does it end?

This is soooo hard to watch.I saw this movie years ago and I cried.Juliet is absolutely wonderful in this film. The scene where she goes to see her therapist and totally falls apart: her portreyal of the grief and the anger over her loss is one of the best performances ever in moving pictures.Absolutely natural and deeply touching.Immensely well written, directed and performed.

The emotion of Juliet Stevenson is world shaking. I can never watch this without crying my eyes out. She is a force of nature. Thank you J Stevenson. |
