Metroid (NES) Gameplay (Part 2)
Gameplay from the NES version of Metroid, emulated in NEStopia.Metroid is one of those games that, without a doubt, will kick your ass if you haven't either memorized it or found/drawn a map of it. It's huge. So huge, in fact, that they had to use bankswitching and sneaky tricks to make it work. The game itself is something else, too - you, a lone bounty hunter named Samus Aran, must explore the tunnels of Zebes to find and eliminate the titular Metroids and the Mother Brain that controls them. The planet is full of dead ends, long shafts and hallways, creatures of all kinds, and a couple of Mother Brain's heavies looking to turn you into so much errant space debris. Your only hope is to find the multitude of items to upgrade your suit, giving you better weapons, more energy, and a fighting chance.Being alone in this game really feels the part - you realize, at some point, that you're not only alone, but the only other living things here are all actively working to kill you.Damn, but it's a good feeling.
