I'd never heard of that but it makes sense. I sure am glad there's no bats going after MY feeders! I'm going through 1/2 gallon of sugar water every 36 hours right now as it is.

It's possible that some bats may have found your feeder. Either that, or the bottle may have a leak. But, there are some species of bats that will drain a hummingbird feeder in a matter of hours overnight.

Not really, no. Orioles will drink it but I don't *think* they drink it up at the rate the Hummers do. Are there Orioles where you are? Could you have a leak in the container? Is it plastic?

I was putting food out in my hummingbird feeder in the garden, where I have seen hummingbirds in former years, but the water kept dissappearing and I didn't see any. Do you know if anything else could have eaten it?
