galicije83: wrong the Bushmaster ACR uses short stroke gas piston just like the XM8 and H&K416 !!the Robinson Armament XCR has better copy of the AK47 long gas piston !! with out the AK recoil !! the XCR can fire the 5.56x45mm NATO, 7.62x39mm, 6.8 mm SPC, 6.5 mm Grendel just like the ACR even better !!

I think they abandoned the xm8 because the polycarbonate body would overheat and melt. I'm not sure though.
