Tulips On Troost

Tulips on Troost began with the modest goal of planting 10-thousand tulips along Kansas City's historic Troost Avenue. It quickly surpassed that, and now aims to plant one-million tulips. Troost Avenue -- also known as "Truth Avenue" -- is a metaphor for the urban core. Perhaps no street in Kansas City stirs more emotions. It has long served as the unofficial boundry between east and west, rich and poor, hope and despair, black and white. And sometimes, life and death. In the 1920s there were streetcars and millionaires on Troost. In the 1960s there were riots. Today, the area is characterized by vacant lots, second-hand stores and a crumbling infastructure. But there is something happening along the avenue. Tulips on Troost hopes to give residents a new way of looking at color along the avenue, and will be a powerful symbol of hope and healing to everyone who is touched by Troost and who is in need of a change. This is a simple five-minute video from the first year of the project. We are in the process of making a full-length documentary on this ambitious project, and hope to have it complete by the summer of '08. Thanks for watching. log onto http://troostavenue.com for more information.

They need to just put a fence between the black side and the side with good people. Why don't they just run those colored people out of there?
