I would imagine that a spike has more mass to it, thus a very different flight pattern and more energy to penetrate the target. A blade needs the angular momentum derived from rotation to help it penetrate the target.

It's quite do-able. The normal impliment are spikes more than blades, however.I suck at it, but it's a nice departure from normal blade work.Something to break the normalcy.

have not tried a no-spin. Doesn't sound physically do-able from any distance. And rotations are judged on half-rotations (1/2, full, 1 1/2, etc.). He does knives with full rotations and half-rotations depending upon the distance and the grip. There is also a 1 1/2 hawk throw where it hits the target inverted.

this was for a Cold Steel video. At home, he actually throws up to 27 ft (8.5 meters) away from the target. And he hasnt' been throwing for 40 years -- but nice of you to think he has.

Nice work, btw.

How do you feel about no spin or 1/4 spin throwing?
