I use borosilicate glass - I prefer it to moretti because it's much more flexible in terms of sensitivity to the heat and temperature changes. I'm not sure about the hot head torch, I use a surface mix Mid-range torch, but it's definitely worth a try if you are interested in playing around! There are lots of places that offer workshops and seminars in flameworking.
