Say you want Zinnias in your garden ?You gotta water 'em to watch 'em grow ?Say you want Azaleas in your garden, baby ?Put 'em in the sun and watch 'em go !Everybody's braggin',I'd rather be draggin' my ass instead.Everybody's scramblin',I walk around shakin' my head.I want you,I need you,I barely see you, baby !I see you,I need you, I'll never leave you.I want you,I need you,I barely see you, baby !I see you,I gotchou, I'll never leave you.Like the mighty old Sequoia,I've been standing right here for a thousand years !Like the gnarly seaside Ceder,Battered and bent by the breath of the Sea ! Everybody's standin' around,Talkin' about I don't know what - Everybody's shaggin' !I can't drag my ass outta' bed.I want you,I need you,I barely see you, baby !I see you,I need you, I'll never leave you.I want you,I need you,I barely see you, baby !I see you,I gotchou, I'll never leave you.Oh, Owlsley - can you hear me know ?Elmore Leonard ain't got nothin' on this failure.Say you want Zinnias in your garden ?You gotta water 'em to watch 'em grow ?Say you want Azaleas in your garden, baby ?Put 'em in the sun and watch 'em go !Go, Go !Go.

To set the record straight, this is an original, I only "quoted" those spoken lines from the other two songs mentioned. A bit like sampling or collage, wherein an element from somewhere else is put into a context to create something new. I wanted to keep that unmentioned so that the astute might be delighted by the discovery of the sleeve-worn influences. Egoically yours,

So in your response to KrisShred...you were only kind of taking credit for it being an origianl, right? I mean, it WAS you singing after all. Some of my favourite songs in the whole world of music are covers.

You're right about that ! The first line is lifted from Jimi's version of "Day Tripper" and the second is McCartney on the Let It Be album. But I've already said too much.

You got the Jimi Thing with this line:"Oh, Owlsley - can you hear me know ?Elmore Leonard ain't got nothin' on this failure."

Yes. This one came after a few weeks of not touching guitar. There were workmen on scaffolding scrubbing our building down and generally making a constant racket. I'm trying to sing like Jimi - must try harder. Mostly playing around with the notes in the box at A & D on the 5th fret.

That was great ;) Is it your own song?
