I have 2 new baby cockatiels, and we feed them with a syringe too. They got used to it within a day and make the same noise they do when they get fed by their parents. We took these out and decided to hand tame them because the parents aren't normally very reliable, they killed the last bunch they had when we didn't interfere. I can't wait for them to grow up, i hope they survive and would love to tame more birds in the future. Awesome video! Great for first time tamers. x

yup alot of people do that. Bout as many people as who feed from syringes. All depends on the breeder/handfeeder.

I was using a metal spoon with the sides curved up at the end. It allowed the bird to eat at its own pace.

i wouldn't feed them from the same syringe.

With the amount of babies I fed at one time on a regular basis, it was not ethical for me to use a spoon, because by the time I had finnished feeding one or 2 babies with a spoon, the formula would get cold. Spoon vs. syringe is purely a preference thing, neither of them determine the health or friendliness of a baby as both are equally as effective.

Better off using a plastic spoon that you can soften and shape like a beak on the end. They take to this easier because it's more like their parents beak and its more natural than a syringe

I have 5 babies, and the parents started going insane so I separated them at the time the oldest was 2 week old youngest was 1 week old. I'm having two problems. All except the youngest refuse the syringe. And the second problem is that the young one is so tiny, fully functioning, but stopped growing. He barely has his eyes open, and eats, but is now growing. Can you guys help me out with these two issues?

You should not have pulled them away from the nest box unless there was something wrong, you should leave it to the parents.

yes i will back her up on this I am a bird breeder from Canada and yes they do refuse the food sometimes at first because they know what Mommy's beak is but they don't know what a syringe is. that's why you try with these guys every hour they get it on the 2nd or 3rd try. I breed lovebirds I just got a pair of cockatiels hope to have baby teils soon
