The better the villain, the greater the movie. It always was like that. Alan Rickman's performance as Hans Gruber is perfection! Combined with Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, the script, the cinematography and the direction of John McTiernan... this would've been a B-Movie withouth them. This is a classic.

Yes he does,and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood-Prince of thieves too.Anyway. Hans Gruber is clearly his best role as a villain.Witness the scene when Tanaka doesn't have the combination to the safe and Hans Gruber simply kills him like it was no big deal.

This villain interpretation by Alan Rickman turns this gold movie to platinum... and to an all-time classic, still un-challenged 20 years later.PS 1 : During the whole movie, Hans carries a little notebook and, at times, writes things in it. What are they ?PS 2 : check out for a Hans Gruber-like villain in "Sudden Death", played by Powers Boothe. Nice too !
