I've talked to many musicians playing in orchestras. They don't really put difference between Mozart and stuff like this. They like some pieces more than others but still it's their job. They just do it the best they can. Most important thing for the musicians in a whole is the conductor. A good conductor is able to take the best out of the orchestra and the composition. This is also as OwnedRL says, progression. That's the key word. Progression. Segovia was that too. And at first, they

vai actually graduated as a composer... so if any guitarist would have the right to play together with an entire orchestra, it would be him...besides, you try combining a distorted guitar with a classical orchestra, damn hard to do.

I agree with the dude above me. I own a gibson and I love it. But guitars and guitarist have to match, Vai is Ibanez and Ibanez is Vai! Don't ruin the formula!

the climax at 3:54 is amazing. It's moments like those that in my opinion put Steve Vai above so many other guitarists. Also, props to the orchestra's brass section, they really add to the overall mood at that point!(lets not forget the orchestral musicians out there=])

I wouldn't say overrated, They're good guitars for the price. It's just they lack the Tremolo's, the neck, and the high fret access for vai's type of music. In terms of quality Gibson > Ibanez, in terms of playability Ibanez > Gibson. |
