Oh, I agree that GD's earlier stuff kicked ass (Dookie, Nimrod, Kerplunk! etc...) But American Idiot was awesome as well. Yeah, it was different, but wasn't Sandinista different from The Clash?

Dookie is over-rated. the best Green Day albums are American Idiot, closely followed by Warning, and then Nimrod. end of.

punk doesn't have a definition, but when american idiot was released so many people were disappointed on how suckish it was compared to their earlier albums.

What's "punk" to you? Amateur musicians ranting about politics? Well, American Idiot is probably one of the most "punk" things GD has done then, because a few of the tracks on there are political.

Dude... I have seen greenday three times live. I grew up listening to them. They were awesome.. I went to the club where they got there start... the gilman in berkeley, but greendays clash cover lacked soul. It was clean and polished track, but no soul. The biggest influece of greenday was the clash..not becuase the clash were technically good...it was becuase they bought a fresh enery and emotion that music at the time lacked.

when was the last time they came out with good music? don't tell me american idiot cause that was fucking terrible. they went from punk to pop and that's something you don't do.
